Habitat type

6210: Semi-natural dry grasslands and scrubland facies on calcareous substrates (Festuco-Brometalia) (* important orchid sites)

 - dry grasslands  on moderately dry and nutrient- poor soil

- mowed once or twice a year

- colourful as a result of relatively great number of species and their simultaneous flowering during the spring

- often with orchids- than protected as a priority

- in Goričko only on acid sandy substrate - for this reason  only the Green-winged Orchid (Orchis morio), Autumn Lady’s-tresses (Spiranthes spiralis) and the Burnt Orchid (Orchis ustulata).

Characteristic plant species: Flatweed (Hypochaeris radicata), Furrowed fescue (Festuca rupicola), Quaking-grass (Briza media), Yellow Oat-grass (Trisetum flavescens), Red Fescue (Festuca rubra), Hoary Plantain (Plantago media), King Devil Hawkweed (Hieracium praealtum), Deptford Pink (Dianthus armeria)  and Maiden Pink (Dianthus deltoides). A phytogeographical characteristic of the area are Tassel Hyacinth (Muscari comosum) and Purple Mullein (Verbascum phoeniceum).

Threats:

- overgrowing as a result of abandonment

-  use of fertilizers and more frequent mowing (adapted from Trčak in Podgorelec, 2012).

6410: Molinia meadows on calcareous, peaty or clayey-silt-laden soils (Molinion caeruleae)

 - on soils where water stagnates from time to time (near water courses, periodically flooded or low permeable soil)

- soil is not fertilized and low in nutrients

Characteristic plant species: Tall Moor grass (Molinia arundinacea), Tufted Hair-grass (Deschampsia caespitosa), Devil’s-bit Scabious (Succisa pratensis), Tormentil (Potentilla erecta), Betony (Betonica officinalis), Marsh Gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe), Sneezewort (Achillea ptarmica), Saw-wort (Serratula tinctoria), Pale Sedge (Carex pallescens), Siberian Iris (Iris sibirica), Yellow Day-lily (Hemerocallis lilioasphodelus).

Threats:

- land drainage and regulation of water courses,

- fertilizing, liming and intensive mowing more than three times a year

- abandonment nad overgrownment by an alien invasive Goldenrod species (Solidago spp.) (adapted from Trčak in Podgorelec, 2012).

6510: Lowland hay meadows (Alopecurus pratensis, Sanguisorba officinalis)

 - wet hay meadows  with characteristic moderately fertilized soil and mowing several times a year

- typical for the cultural landscape of the Central European lowlands

- relatively considerable diversity of plant species with high turf

Characteristic plant speciesCreeping Buttercup (Ranunculus repens),Ragged-Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi), Meadow Foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis), Yorkshire-fog (Holcus lanatus), Meadow Fescue (Festuca pratensis), Rough Meadow-grass (Poa trivialis), Rough Hawkbit (Leontodon hispidus), Great Burnet (Sanguisorba officinalis), Field Scabious (Knautia arvensis), Creeping-Jenny (Lysimachia nummularia) and Red Clover (Trifolium pratense).

Threats:

- intensification of land use involving excessive fertilizing, land drainage or  turning into fields.
